A Very Hipster Halloween!

Halloween this year was a blast! To be honest, every year Halloween is pretty dang fun! On the day before Halloween we got dressed up and spent the evening with Matt's sister Danielle, who also shares a birthday with all hallows eve. 

Matt and I are hipsters for Halloween, haha! Hipsters are kids, usually in their early twenties, who wear a lot of flannel and beanies and scarfs, and take a lot of photos. Additionally Matt who a bow-tie, very hipster, and we curled up his mustache (though you can't really tell from these pictures). I figured this would be the easiest costume for us to come up with on the spot.

And of course, you can't be a hipster without multiple tattoos.

Liam LOVES dinosaurs! When trying to decide what to have him be for Halloween, it was pretty easy to decide to go with a dinosaur. And according to Liam, dinosaurs say, "Rawrrrr!!!"

Abby is the cutest My Little Pony ever! For a girl that LOVES My Little Pony's more than practically anything else, it was a very easy choice!

On Halloween Day we spent the evening with my mom, eating pizza, and taking the kids trick-or-treating. Holidays are always better with family, enough said! Happy Halloween from a couple of hipsters, a My Little Pony, a dinosaur, a creepy dude, a witch, a bee, and a Jehovah Witness!!

Sister Trip 2015!

It isn't fall until we have had our annual Sister Sleep-over! Every year, since I was 18, the women on my mom's side of the family get together for a weekend of shopping, eating, and sleeping!! This year I decided to take Abby and we had a weekend of it! I love that we have this tradition, sometimes girls just need to have a little fun.

And we are off on our girls weekend!!!!

On the first night (Friday, October 9th), Chelsie, my mom, Abby, and myself drove up to Park City to meet everyone. As tradition dictates, we enjoyed some yummy pizza the first night and chatted until the early morning hours. I was worried that Abby would have a hard time, or be too hyper, and she actually did really well. 

The next day, (Saturday, October 10th) we started our day off shopping!

It's nice that we have the sister trip so close to Christmas because we always do a lot of Christmas shopping. It was a little harder this year with Abby in tow, but we still had fun shopping.

After shopping Abby wanted to go swimming. It's funny because we have been going to the same hotel since I started coming to sister weekend (over ten years ago), but we have never even ventured into the swimming pool area. This year with Abby coming, and the fact that she is secretly a fish, we had to check out the pool. The pool is indoors and is really very nice. Abby went swimming a total of three times during our three-day trip and had SOOO much fun!

Saturday night we went out to dinner as a family and snapped these photos. I am so happy we are able to do this every year, it is such a fun tradition. Sometimes you just need a little break from life and this is the perfect way to spend that break.

Gregg Ned Bergera

1958~2015


Gregg Ned Bergera, beloved husband, brother, and friend to those who knew him, passed away in the Valley View Medical Center on Monday, September 28, 2015. The cause was cardiac arrest. He was 57 years old.

Gregg was born on February 8, 1958, in the Utah Valley Hospital (Provo) to James and Ella Ruth Bergera. He attended Joaquin, Maeser and Provost elementary schools, Dixon Jr. High School, and Provo High School (class of 1977). In his early life, Gregg enjoyed reading, poetry, and especially the company of family and friends. Gregg was a true renaissance man. He often spoke of his nieces and nephews, who were always in his thoughts, with fondness and compassion.

Gregg married Joann Haight of Cedar City, Utah, on May 1, 1993. She was “the light of his life.” Gregg and Joann loved each other very much, and were seldom seen apart from one another.

Gregg is survived by his wife, Joann; his brothers and sister: Gary, Scott, Cathy, and Paul, their spouses and children; as well as Joann’s extended family. Gregg’s family appreciates the support of the many friends, social workers, and health care professionals who helped Gregg live the best life he could.

Gregg’s fortitude, attitude, and spirit helped to guide him, Joann, and his family through a challenging yet full life.

A private memorial and burial service was conducted on Saturday, October 3, 2015, in Cedar City, Utah.

Upon hearing the news of my uncle's passing, my sister Chelsie, my brother Ryan, my aunt Cathy (Gregg's sister), my cousin Riley, and myself, went down to Cedar City for the funeral and to show our love and support to Gregg's wife Joann. Gregg lived a long, hard, life with mental illness and so while we are sad at his passing and we feel for Joann's loss, we are grateful that Gregg is finally at peace. The trip to Cedar City was more a time of reflection for us and of enjoying our time together than it was in mourning, the way in which I think Gregg would have preferred.

Matt's Birthday

 

We had SO MUCH FUN celebrating Matt's 39th birthday this year! Because I was going out of town for a funeral on his actual birthday (October 2nd) we celebrated his birthday a day early. The kids helped me decorate our bedroom and then surprise Matt when he got home from work. It was fun spoiling Matt and the kids had a blast helping him unwrap his presents. We sure do love our Mattie!
