Crackin open the textbooks again...

Matt will be taking Ethics and Values which means he is one class away from his associates which is pretty stinking awesome and I am taking Foundations of Human Nutrition (aka needed a general elective) but it should be pretty fun. The best part though is both of our classes are on the same day, at the same time, and in the same off-campus location in the brand-new
What makes me really happy is Matt will finally be able to take a class again. With his work schedule the last two years it’s been to crazy but luckily he has the opportunity to take a class and I am thrilled! I know he can’t wait to crack open the textbooks again!

Walk to Cure Diabetes!

If you take a moment, how quickly can you think of someone close to you who has been diagnosed with diabetes? Maybe it’s a parent, a sibling, a grandparent, a child, a spouse, or a friend (or even yourself?). I am pretty sure every single one of us knows at least one person (if not more) who has been or will be diagnosed with diabetes in their lifetime. Diabetes affects every one of us pretty profoundly, and tends to hit us pretty close to home.
As many of you know, my husband Matt was diagnosed with Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes over 30 years ago. Type 1 diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, with a large and growing percentage of them being children. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am that with the proper medical attention and care and the use of an insulin pump Matt has been very blessed to not have many of the major problems associated with diabetes. But that’s not always the case, millions of type 1 diabetics need help and need a cure.
Matt and I are excited to be taking part in Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $105 million. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.
Our first walk will be on September 26th here in
Thank you so much for your checking out this awesome cause!

I just can't get enough!
So lately Matt and I have been going rock climbing almost every week and I love it! I can honestly say that it’s been the highlight of my summer! Whenever we have a free evening we head up to Momentum Indoor Climbing in
Yesterday Matt and I had the evening off so we spent a couple of hours climbing and had a blast! We both went up a bunch of runs (I am doing 5.8’s now, not bad at all!) and I seriously can’t wait to get back! We also had the opportunity to try out our new harnesses and gear which worked out perfectly! Here’s a couple of photos from the night…
