Early Easter!

Matt and I are getting so excited to spend Easter this year with our family in California! We take off on Friday (3 days and counting!!) and we seriously can't wait!

We are getting so anxious and excited about the trip we decided to celebrate our Easter tradition of giving each other Easter baskets early. This past Sunday we surprised each other with a bunch of little gifts, it was so much fun!


Matt was freezing apparently, LOL! For Easter I got him a couple of books (Inkheart & Preach My Gospel), the tv show Leverage, a new Jet cd, a hand-held game called "Brain Games", a pair of shorts and a shirt, and a BUNCH of sugar-free candy!



Matt of course spoiled me like crazy! He always sneaks in a couple more presents then we agreed on but he's such a cutie I can't get mad at him. He got me a personal hymn book (which he had my name engraved on), a couple of books from one of my favorite authors Bill Bryson, a couple of movies (Better off Ted season 1 & Where the Wild Things Are), a couple of cds (Paramore & Kings of Leon), and a BUNCH of Easter candy!

Latter that day we went down to my mom's house and made amazing French Toast with fresh strawberries and whip cream! What a perfectly wonderful early Easter!

No more procrastination...starting tomorrow!

Taking a cue from last semester (when Matt and I registered way too late and got stuck taking our Art class down in Spanish Fork about 25-30 mins south) yesterday was the first day to sign up for summer classes and we're already signed up!

Matt will be taking Business Law & Organizational Behavior, two classes for his Accounting degree, and I am taking a Sociology and Psychology class. I know Matt is way excited to be taking classes regularly and I am getting hyped up for my classes.

Summer semester starts on May 6th!!

Silver linings...

Keeping in tradition with our "going-to-the-ER" week yesterday Matt got to be the patient. He is doing fine now but gave me a little bit of a scare yesterday when he told me that his blood sugar just kept getting higher and higher. Matt is a type 1 diabetic and is on an insulin pump that keeps his blood sugar where it needs to be. For some reason (we are thinking maybe a kink in the hose?) the pump wasn't delivering the insulin he needed into his system and his blood sugar kept getting higher and higher.

Around 1pm he called me at work and told me he wasn't feeling well and that he was going to go home and change his pump. I asked him what his blood sugar was and he said it was so high the machine couldn't read it (over 600...not good!) I told him to stay put and I would pick him up. On the way to his work I called my mom who told me to head straight to the hospital, once again my mom's medical expertise has really paid off (along with what I believe was a prompting by the Holy Ghost) because once we got Matt to the ER the doctors told us that if we would have come in any later it would have caused some long term damage (they found no ketones in his body which is the thing they were the most worried about). They were able to get the insulin into his system that he needed and within a couple of hours Matt was back to his self and we were sent home.

He is doing good today, the pump seems to be doing it's job and I couldn't be more grateful! It's not fun taking your loved one to the hospital! This experience just reconfirms to me my love for my hubby, my amazing mom, and the Savior. I truly believe it was the spirit that prompted Matt to leave work early and for me to take him to the hospital. We could have just tried to resolve the problem at home but I am so glad we didn't! It's been a crazy week but it's also been amazing to see the blessings we have in our life!

What a crazy week...

Last week was kind of a blur...I woke up around 4am on Wednesday morning with the worst stomach ache I've ever had. I took some pain killers and tried to fall back asleep with no luck. I couldn't stand, sit, or lay down without being in incredible pain. Matt woke up and was really worried because I have never been so out of it. He took me to the American Fork Emergency Room around 5am and though it was only a couple of blocks from our house I didn't think I was going to make it. Once we got there they hooked me up to an I.V. and whatever drugs they gave me put me in heaven! I've never been so content after being in so much pain, it was amazing! The doctor wasn't quite sure what was wrong so he gave me some painkillers and told me if the pain persists to go ahead and either come back or see my doctor and we'll go from there. For the remainder of the day I slept. Matt was amazing and took the day off to make sure I was feeling better, he even got me some really good ice cream!!

The next day I wasn't feeling quite as bad but still not 100%. Matt took me to my doctor who was worried that my appendix might rupture (scary!) so he had me go to the hospital to get a CT scan. My mom was working that day so she came down to Radiology after work and it was so nice having her there! When it comes to anything medical my Mom is amazing! She keeps a good positive attitude and it's always so comforting! After the scan the doctor wanted me to get an ultrasound (and no I am not pregnant, LOL! I guess that was the rumor going around the office since I called in sick two days in a row). The ultrasound and CT revealed that I had a bunch of large cysts on my ovaries (even more scary!) but thankfully my appendix didn't burst!

Anyways long story short after looking at my ct scan and ultrasound my doctor recommended I see an OGBYN and go from there. So no answers yet on what is going to happen but I am just thankful they figured it out and that Matt was able to take a few days off of work to help me feel better. I am doing much better now and just anxiously awaiting the appointment with my OBGYN to figure things out as well as how much our hospital bill is going to be!

Moab Madness!

Every year around the beginning of March my mom's side of the family heads down to Moab for our annual Moab Madness Reunion! As mentioned in my previous post this has been one of the highlights of the year for me since I was really young! I don't know if it's the whole "get-a-way" and staying in a nice hotel with my amazing family, but I love it! This year was no exception!

We had the opportunity this year to have Matt's brother Aaron join us which was a blast! It's always nice being able to share good times with family! We headed down Friday afternoon and though it had snowed a couple of inches that morning, by the time we left the roads were dry and the drive was perfect!









On Saturday we decided to drive out to Newspaper Rock (especially because it was too muddy to any major hiking). It was pretty incredible with amount of petroglyphs covering such a small space.




After Newspaper Rock we headed over to Hole N' The Rock which is a gift shop/museum showcasing the former home of Albert and Gladys. It was pretty interesting because Albert actually blasted the rock out himself. He built a little home for himself and his wife as well as a cafe. We took a small tour of the home and it was pretty impressive.








Later that same day we decided to head over to a park near my aunt Emily's house. It was fun just being a kid again and playing on the swings and monkey bars! I've forgotten how much fun it is just being silly!!

At the park they also had a bunch of percussion instruments you could play so of course we had to play them! There must have been over 20 different drums and xylophones we played around with, too much fun!!

Saturday night we had a dinner/game night at my aunt's church. Amazing salmon and cheesy potatoes followed by a friendly game of Family Feud, I couldn't of asked for a better time!! (And yes my family won the game!)

We sadly headed back home Sunday but first stopped by my aunt Emily's house for one last gathering with the family. We enjoyed some yummy breakfast, said goodbye to the family, and reluctantly headed home.

What an amazing vacation, now only 25 more days until we head to California!!

Praying for good weather!

So the day after tomorrow Matt, Matt's brother Aaron, and myself head down to Moab for my families annual Moab Madness Reunion and I am praying for good weather! It seems like every year we go down it's either raining or snowing or some kind of poopy weather and I am fearing it might be the same this year. Don't get me wrong it's always nice just getting out of town for the weekend but can't we have one decent weekend of weather? I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed! Here's to hoping the sun will come out and play!

This was the first time Matt and I went to Moab together and it snowed! How am I suppose to sell Matt on how amazing Moab is when it snows! LOL! We have been back since with good weather so it's all good!
