Concert Recap...Hella Good!

Holy freakin amazing best ever concert of my life! I can’t believe how superb the No Doubt concert was last night. Words truly don’t do the concert justice, I wish I could have taken all of you with me!

There were two opening bands, The Sounds and Paramore. The Sounds opened first and though I had never heard of them they were really good and I quickly remembered how stinkin loud concerts are! Maybe I just don’t go to enough concerts or I am getting old but holy crap my ears were already hurting and it was only the opening bands! After The Sounds performed Paramore came on stage and tore it up! They were amazing! It was really nice to be able to actually recognize some of the songs and to sing along. The energy was pretty crazy too, every one was pumped up and excited and it just made the whole experience that much more unreal.

The anticipation for No Doubt was getting pretty crazy when Paramore wrapped up. They took about 15 mins to get everything set up for No Doubt when suddenly the lights went dark and through this big white curtain they had up the band members shadows stood larger then life and everyone went crazy! At first you could see Adrian, then Tom, then Tony until finally Gwen’s shadow appeared and everyone got our of their seats and were going crazy, shouting, clapping, yelling at the top of their lungs (yes my voice is gone today…lol!) it was insane! The curtain quickly dropped and there stood No Doubt in their entirety to kick some a@$! It was such a huge rush of adrenaline getting up on my feet screaming and yelling and witnessing a band that I have loved for such a long time that has made such a huge impact on my life words can hardly describe. How some people loved Elvis I love No Doubt. How some people went absolutely nuts over the Beatles I went absolutely crazy for No Doubt!

Song highlights for me were “Simple Kind of Life”, “New”, of course “Don’t Speak” where you could see a wave of lighters and cell phones swaying back and forth. The definite highlight of the concert was when they performed “Just a Girl”…the energy was incredible! Gwen asked all the boys in the audience to sing as loud as they could “I’m just a girl” to which the boys did a pretty measly job…next she asked all of us girls to sing as loud as we could “I’m just a girl” and ya the girls rocked!! We sang it about 3 times each time louder and louder to the point where I knew my ear drums would burst but it was so worth it!!!

Another fun highlight of the night was when Gwen asked us all if we would sing Happy Birthday to her little boy Kingston, of course how could we say no? To everyone’s surprise she brought little Kingston out (who I think turned 3) and he was so freakin cute!!! They had the big head phones on him to protect his ears and it was seriously the cutest thing ever! We started singing “Happy Birthday” and Gwen took off the head phones so he could hear the audience wishing him a happy birthday…as soon as the head phones were off little Kingston put his hands up to his ears, I guess it was just too loud for him LOL! The whole time though he was waving at the audience and smiling and just being a stinkin cutie! Click here to check out a vid a fellow No Doubt fan took of the cute birthday boy!

Overall it was such an amazing, unreal, superb, outstanding, extraordinary experience pretty much beyond words. I am so psyched I decided to go and my little brother was able to go with me and we had such a blast. Next time they are in town consider me there!

Here are some photos I took of the concert! (Note: They were taken with my cell phone from the very back of the E-Center so the quality is not that great but you get the idea...)

You Came in with the Breeze on "Monday" Morning...

I can't believe the day is almost here! In only 3 days I am going to check out No Doubt and I couldn't be more excited...YEA!!!!! One of my all-time favorite bands will be performing at the E-Center in West Valley on Monday and I am SO ready! I’ve got my tickets, I’ve got my camera, I’ve had my ipod on nothing but No Doubt for weeks and the time is finally just around the corner! Rock On!

On other non-related No Doubt news…Matt and I have been having a pretty sweet summer so far. We’ve had a handful of BBQ’s already and it’s been really fun showing off our new place and all the hard work we’ve put into our yard. A week ago we had my buds Kathy and her husband Greg over and we had a blast! We grilled up some yummy bacon wrapped teriyaki chicken, had a little picnic in our backyard and just talked until it got dark (or until the mosquitoes completely devoured Matt). We love having Kat and Greg over and can’t wait until the next BBQ!

Other news...Matt is happy the crazy shifts he has been working are all but over. He actually only got scheduled like 42 hours next week so it’s kind of a miracle. Another miracle…he has a weekend off…how crazy is that? We were thinking of going out of town but in an effort to save a little money (and pay off stupid medical bills) we’ve decided to stay home for the weekend and check out what Utah County has to offer…lol! Nah I think it will be fun. We are going to hike up to the Timpanogas Caves, check out some fun hiking trials up American Fork canyon, and just try to stay outside as much as possible. Plus we’ll be able to sleep in Saturday and really what’s better then that?

Speaking of summer in an effort to make the most out of my summer days I’ve composed a couple of “Goals for Summer”…

  1. Hang out with my hubby as much as humanly possible!

  2. Spend more time outside whether that’s hiking, biking, running, gardening, four-wheeling, rock climbing, etc…

  3. Dive into my art head first and get completely submerged! Work on paintings, drawings, and even buy some clay so I can start sculpting again.

  4. Watch less tv and be more active! Work out every day and get fit!

  5. Experiment more in the kitchen and cook dishes I’ve never tried. Matt got me a really cool cookbook for Easter that I am excited to break in!

That’s about all that I can think of but I think it’s a pretty good list!

Photos of the big day!

As my ever so cute hubby posted right before this one, yesterday was my birthday and I had an amazingly fun-filled day! From going out to lunch with Matt (at Rubio's...yum!) to checking out Thanksgiving Point's Gardens, then enjoying dinner at La Dolce Vita followed by a visit to my grandparent's graves I had a wonderful birthday and it couldn't have been better! Here are some of photos from the day...

My wonderful co-workers got these balloons for me...ya they are odd, lol!

My cute little niece and nephew (Leona and Luke) sent this to me for my birthday, aren't they cuties!

Hmm...what is it? Oatmeal Raisin Cookies, YUM!

And the cute note they made me, I love them!!

All my birthday loot...thanks baby!

And now doing what I love best, looking super cute!

After dinner we visited my grandparents graves...

...it was really nice paying honor to them.
My birthday was everything and more then I could have wanted. I am so thankful for my husband and everything he does for me to make me happy. I love him so much and can't wait to spoil him for his birthday in a couple of months!

Goofs and Fun

Well today is Brittany's B-day and I've tried to make it fun for her so far. I gave her her first gift when she woke up this morning to get ready for work. I then gave her the second gift when I picked her up for lunch. Did I mention that I actually had a day off today so that I could celebrate today with the Love of My Life?
I then took her to a small restuarant that we both enjoy.
Then when she got home she got her gift from Luke and Leona, and my last few gifts. We then went to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens and walked the gardens looking at the tulips for their tulip festival. I then took the Squirt over to her favorite Italian restuarant and then we stopped by the cemetary to visit her grandparents.
Hopefully this is going to be a better Birthday celebration for her than the weak attempt of last year.

Ode to our Mom's!

For Mother's Day this year Matt and I had the opportunity to take some time to celebrate our amazing mom's (both in person and over the phone) and let them know how much we think of them! Both of our mom's are amazing, strong, independent ladies who have taught us so much about family, faith, and unconditional love. Whenever times get tough or we struggle with either mundane or significant things they are both there to helps us, support us and I don't know what we would do with out them. We love you both so much and hope you had an spectacular Mother's Day!

Happy Birthday Mom!

Not only did I have the opportunity to celebrate Mother's Day yesterday with my mom but it also (coincidentally enough) was her birthday! We celebrated the fun day down at my mom's house with a BBQ and evening outside, we had a blast!

My mom requested Chocolate Chip Cookies instead of birthday cake...

...so I added a couple of candles and it turned out pretty cute!

Mom blowing out the candles!

All mom's presents...I think she got a tad spoiled!
