The Oquirrh Mtn Temple Open House!

Yesterday Matt and I had the opportunity to attend the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House along side Matt's brother Aaron and I have to admit the temple is amazing! The Oquirrh Mountain Temple is the only temple located in the same city as a previous one (the Jordan River Temple) which I thought was pretty stinkin cool! Before we toured the temple we watched a short 10 minute video about the importance of temples, temples around the world, and how grateful residents of this area are to have this temple so close. Shortly after the video we gathered in huge lines (I couldn't believe how many people attended!) and after a little waiting we silently walked through the temple and it's gorgeous! It reminded me a lot of the beautiful Draper Temple (which we toured a few months ago) with it's murals and amazing attention to details. It's always refreshing to me to witness first hand the beauty which Temples are, inside and out. Taking the evening to tour this magnificent House of God with my hubby and brother-in-law was more then I could ask for!

My little smurf!

My latest bout of boredom and clay has brought about this little blue guy...

It's suppose to be Matt though I don't think he came out quite as spot on as I would like. I see the resemblance but it needs a little work. Either way I think he's pretty cute!

Work + Clay + Bordem = Gandhi?

I made this little guy today at work and I think he turned out pretty good. He is approx. 2 1/2" tall and it took me off and on about 2 hours to make. What do you think?

All I need are the shoes now!

So last night my amazing, wonderful, and adorable husband decided to celebrate Christmas a little early and spoiled me like crazy! With how often we're going rock climbing these days and because he knows how much I love it he took me up to IME (International Mountain Equipment) and we picked out a new harness (for both of us actually), a chalk bag, a chalk sock, a carabiner, and a belaying device...all in one quick trip! How freakin awesome is that?! If you're looking around for equipment I definitely recommend this store. Not only was the store clerk super nice and informative, he had me try on about 5 harness to make sure I got the one that felt the best. We also got to hang in them and Matt and I were both pleasantly surprised at how comfortable good quality harness are, such a difference! The last thing we need to get now is some shoes but for now I am pretty stoked and just ready to hit the gym again! Thanks babe!!

We be Halo playin fools!

So with the recent addition (the all-to-freakin-awesome) internet at our condo and combination of (all-to-freakin-awesome) friends, Matt and I have been playing Halo almost every night on Xbox Live and we’ve been loving it! It might seem like a huge waste of time playing video games every night but I have to beg to differ. For starters it gives us the opportunity to spend time togethertalking, laughing, having fun, and definitely helps distress us from the day. However the major highlight of playing now (with Xbox Live) is that we’ve been able to play with my bud Kathy, her hubby Greg as well as Matt’s brother Aaron and it’s been a blast! We’ve been playing a lot of Halo 3 recently (though I must admit I am utterly horrible at!) and hopefully we’re gonna start playing (my favorite game) Call of Duty 2 which is much more up my ally! It’s also been pretty fun because we all have headsets so we can talk to each other (while we’re blowing each other up) and what’s better then that? We've been having a blast and I am just grateful for awesome buds that like to have a little fun with us and keep us on our toes!

Just a quick update...

So I thought it would be nice to a post a little update on how things are going, what’s new with us, that kind of thing.

July has been kind of a crazy month…

Matt was transferred to the American Fork Wal-Mart which is nice and close which he seems to like alright. He was an assistant manager but the work schedule they had him on was insane (not to mention they sort of treated him like crap). He stepped down from that position and is doing more cashiering now (which is kind of a slap in the face since that’s where he started from) but we’re just grateful he has a job right now with everything being so tight. We’re looking everyone and anyone for something better for him and keeping out fingers crossed!

I’m doing my thing at Synergy and having a pretty fun time. My work is having their Summer Party on August 7th at Lagoon so I’m pretty excited. I’m not sure yet if Matt will be able to come but my brothers are all ready to hang out with me for the day and it should be good times. They have a raffle every year and though I’ve never won who knows what could happen this year!

Matt and I both looking into taking a couple classes this fall and possibly a class together. It’s always nice getting back into school after a little break but it can be a little daunting too, wish us luck!

Overall things are going pretty good! I’ve been able to meet up with my bud Kathy a couple of times a week to go walking (and soon-to-be biking) and it’s been a blast! Kathy is seriously one of the funniest people I know, I love that chica! Ive been trying to stay consistent and ride my bike to work everyday. A couple of times I’ve hit the snooze button on my alarm more then I should have and had to drive the truck to work but not too often which has been nice. Matt and I have been having fun rock climbing with Matt’s brother Aaron the last couple of weeks and can’t wait to go again! We’re both doing pretty good and it’s always nice having fun while breaking a sweat, I don’t mind that at all! The summer has been a blast and the only thing that would make it more complete is a couple more vacations but what can you do?!

Stain'n the Cabin!

Last Weekend (July 10th-12th) the family got together to stain the cabin. We all worked hard and got it done pretty fast! A special thanks goes out to Paul, Larry, and Wes for going the extra mile and making sure the cabin looks awesome (which it does)! Here are some photos from the weekend...

Summertime Favorites!

I thought it would be kind of fun to post my All-Time Favorite Things About Summer, so here ya go...

  • Vacations! From spending time down at our families cabin in the boulder mtns, to taking a weekend get-a-way in Moab, what could be better then going on vacation and have a blast?!

  • BBQ's! I love BBQ's, I mean who doesn't?! We've already had quite a few at our new place and it's been great!

  • Family Gatherings! Whether it's involving a BBQ or not family gatherings are a definite highlight of the summer for me. It might just be my siblings and/or folks or the whole extended family, family gathers are always a reason to have fun!

  • Spending time in the Great Outdoors! I've always enjoyed being outdoors from hiking and biking to fishing and swimming. The summer is always a great excuse to get outside and soak up the sun!

  • The Warm Wonderful Weather! As you can probably guess I'm not much of a winter fan, way too cold! I love the warm weather during summertime and I can't get enough! Bring on the heat, sun, and lemonade!

  • And last but not least...Spending time with my adorable hubby! With all the crazy/busy things we have going on (work, school, callings, this and that) it's always nice spending time with my hubby no matter what we do! One of my favorite things to do all year long is cuddle up with Matt, put in a favorite movie, and fall asleep. It can't get better then that!

4th of July Weekend!

For the 4th of July Weekend I headed down to my families cabin in the Boulder Mtns (Southern Utah) and had a ball! Matt unfortunately wasn't able to come due to work but I tried to make a good weekend out of it anyways! Chelsie, Wes, Austin, and myself all went down together and met up with my Dad, Annette, Brittney, Mackenzie, and Jordan at the cabin. We had fun four-wheeling, playing cards, hiking, roasting marsh mellows around the fire, and just relaxing. On Saturday we went down into town for their local 4th of July Parade and Fair. The trip was pretty fun though next time Matt may just have to call in sick! ;)

Hanging around with my bud!

Yesterday one of my closest and all around amazing friends (aka Kathy) and myself decided to hit up the local rock climbing gym The Quarry and we had a blast! It had been way too long since both of us have been climbing so we decided to check it out and I fell in love with rock climbing all over again. We each did about 4 runs each and I made it to the top of each one! My forearms of course were killing me but it couldn't have been funner!

We are going to try to make it a habit to go climbing a bunch this summer and with my brother-in-law Aaron working at a gym up in Sandy we should be able to get a discount and it can't get better then that right?! Bring on the walls!!
