San Fran and Adelaide's Baby Blessing!

What a fun weekend! We just got home from spending Thursday, May 24th-Monday, May 29th in the bay area and we had a blast! Matt's youngest sister Allison had a baby in February named Adelaide and they had her blessing this past Sunday. They live in San Jose so we decided to drive out for the blessing and take advantage of the fact that we hadn't been to San Fransisco and see some of the sights. We also invited my brother Ryan who also hadn't been out there so it was really fun!

We took off early Thursday morning on May 24th and began our long 12-hour drive to San Jose. Abby was such a trooper for the drive. If you know Abby at all you know she doesn't like being in the same spot for very long and becomes very restless very quickly. Though she threw some tantrums she did a good job and I am so proud of my little trooper!

One thing that really helped that I didn't think about until we were almost there was to have Abby watch movies on Matt's ipad. She isn't quite to the age that movies distract her for long periods of time but she is getting close!

Once we got to California we stopped by Tim and Allison's house to see the little baby girl and smooch and cuddle with her. I had forgotten how small babies are! I can't believe how much Abby has grown in just a year!!

The next day was our All-Things-San-Fransisco-Day! Our first stop was the Golden Gate Bridge!

Abby was obsessed with taking picture of herself, this is one that turned out pretty cute!

 

 

After the bridge we went to the Exploratorium just down the street and it was a blast! It is a hands-on museum of science that we could spend hours in just playing and messing around with everything. Abby was a little too small to appreciate it but there were some fun features she had fun playing with .

And yes this is Abby drinking from a toilet but in my defense it was a legit water fountain, lol.

On the outside of the museum was this beautiful park, we had to take a couple of photos!

Next up was Fisherman's Wharf. We tried to take in as much as we could. We got lunch at this little place just right on the Wharf and I definitely had the best  clam chowder and fish and chips I think I have ever had. After lunch we walked through the stores, went through a Mirror Maze at the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum, and then went to a Wax Museum which was a lot of fun!

After a day of playing we decided to head back to San Jose but not before we visited the Winchester Mystery House.  It's kind of funny how we happened upon the house because we weren't planning on going to it (I hadn't even heard about it) until we were looking up our hotel to see if they had a pool and I clicked on "Fun Things To Do In San Jose" and came upon the house. When Ryan heard me mention it he asked if that was around here because he had heard about it and always wanted to go. We then started researching it and wow what a crazy place! If you get some time you need to look it up online and youtube it cause it is pretty crazy! To make a long story short the widow of the gun maker William Winchester of Winchester Riffle fortune believed she was being haunted and after a Boston medium told her to go out west and build a house and never stop construction on it she did just that. She moved to San Jose, bought a 8-room farmhouse and turned it into a 160-room mansion. For 38-years, until the day she died, she had the house under construction 24-hours a day. The house was CRAZY! Not only was in HUGE and a place you could definitely get lost in, the craziest thing about it was some of the features of the house. Sarah believed the good spirits would show her how to build the house through seances and the purpose was to confuse the evil spirits. So there were stairs that would go into the ceiling, doors that would open to nowhere or to walls, a seance room with one entry and three exits. Oh and Sarah wouldn't sleep in the same room two nights in a row. It was seriously a crazy place but so cool too!

On Saturday we meet up with the rest of Matt's family that was able to make it out. It was so much fun catching up with everyone and watching Abby play with her cousins. Abby has four cousins now, Luke, Leona, Emma-Lee (all siblings) and now little Adelaide. They all live in California so we don't get the opportunity to see them much. It was so much fun being able to spend a few days with them and play. Abby had a ball!

On Sunday we went to Adelaide's baby blessing. Afterwards we took some family photos out on the church lawn.

The next day we headed out early to begin the 12-hour drive again. We arrived home safe and sound around 7:30pm after a very long drive! Abby slept alot during the drive which was great and as soon as we got home she was excited to see her grandma and kitty of course, lol.

We had an amazing time and I am definitely not ready to be back in the swing of things. We will miss our family so much but glad we got to spend a little time together.
