Back in the good old days...

So after viewing pictures like this for some time now (which I might add has been pretty hilarious) I decided to make a couple of my own, bring on the giggles!

Crackin open the textbooks again...

Well for the first time since Matt and I met we’re actually taking classes at the same time! It had always been that Matt was taking classes and I was taking a break or I was taking classes and he was taking a break but finally the fates allowed for us to attend school and the same time and we’re both pretty ecstatic about it!

Matt will be taking Ethics and Values which means he is one class away from his associates which is pretty stinking awesome and I am taking Foundations of Human Nutrition (aka needed a general elective) but it should be pretty fun. The best part though is both of our classes are on the same day, at the same time, and in the same off-campus location in the brand-new Saratoga Springs High School. (Yes we planned it that way.) I figured if we’re both gonna go to school we might as well try to get our classes close to each other and this worked out perfectly!

What makes me really happy is Matt will finally be able to take a class again. With his work schedule the last two years it’s been to crazy but luckily he has the opportunity to take a class and I am thrilled! I know he can’t wait to crack open the textbooks again!

Truly, Madly, Deeply...

So on August 10th exactly four years ago Matt and I had our very first date. As many of you know we initially “met” on ldssingles.com. We were both a little shy and thought “hey why not try this online stuff?” and guess what? It worked! (I also have two friends who met their husbands online, how’s that for freaking cool!)
Well I was not one of those people that wanted to chat via e-mail or phone calls for months so about a week after we spotted each other online I asked Matt if he wanted to go out and of course he said yes. We decided to meet somewhere public (you just never know what kind of weirdo’s you can meet online) and thought a dinner and a movie at the Provo Mall would be pretty fun and stress-free. We decided to meet by the water fountain in the front entrance and then have dinner at Red Robin. I remember that Matt ordered Fajitas and I ordered a BLTA Croissant (still my favorite) and after dinner we watched Fantastic Four.
What left the biggest impression on me from that night was how comfortable and relaxed I felt with Matt. He’s so laid-back and easy going its hard not to have fun with him. The next couple of days we went on a bunch of dates from heading up to Lagoon with friends to checking out the BYU Art Museum, every date was a blast! It wasn’t however until our road trip to Matt’s parents in October that I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.
Matt proposed to me on October 30th, 2005 and we were married February 24th , 2005. It’s been four years since I met Matt and though it’s completely corny and cheesy to say it’s honestly been the greatest four years of my life! I love you baby!

Walk to Cure Diabetes!

If you take a moment, how quickly can you think of someone close to you who has been diagnosed with diabetes? Maybe it’s a parent, a sibling, a grandparent, a child, a spouse, or a friend (or even yourself?). I am pretty sure every single one of us knows at least one person (if not more) who has been or will be diagnosed with diabetes in their lifetime. Diabetes affects every one of us pretty profoundly, and tends to hit us pretty close to home.

As many of you know, my husband Matt was diagnosed with Type 1, or juvenile, diabetes over 30 years ago. Type 1 diabetes is a devastating disease that affects millions of people, with a large and growing percentage of them being children. I cannot begin to express how grateful I am that with the proper medical attention and care and the use of an insulin pump Matt has been very blessed to not have many of the major problems associated with diabetes. But that’s not always the case, millions of type 1 diabetics need help and need a cure.

Matt and I are excited to be taking part in Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund's Walk to Cure Diabetes, along with one-half million other walkers across the country, as we try to reach our goal of raising $105 million. For the first time, scientists are predicting that we CAN expect to see a cure well within our lifetime. In fact, JDRF funding and leadership is associated with most major scientific breakthroughs in type 1 diabetes research to date. JDRF funds a major portion of all type 1 diabetes research worldwide, more than any other charity.

Our first walk will be on September 26th here in Orem. If you are in the area and want to walk alongside us let me know. The more people the better! If you would like, you can also help us reach our goal by donating whatever you can. Your contributions are more than appreciated! Click here to donate what you can or see how close we are to making our goal.

Thank you so much for your checking out this awesome cause!

I just can't get enough!

So lately Matt and I have been going rock climbing almost every week and I love it! I can honestly say that it’s been the highlight of my summer! Whenever we have a free evening we head up to Momentum Indoor Climbing in Sandy where Matt’s brother Aaron works (and gets us in for free, thanks bro!) and spend a couple of hours “hanging around”. I can’t believe how much I truly love rock climbing! Not only does it challenge you both physically and mentally but the adrenaline rush is out of this world! Plus I get to spend the evening with my hubby and what’s better then that?!

Yesterday Matt and I had the evening off so we spent a couple of hours climbing and had a blast! We both went up a bunch of runs (I am doing 5.8’s now, not bad at all!) and I seriously can’t wait to get back! We also had the opportunity to try out our new harnesses and gear which worked out perfectly! Here’s a couple of photos from the night…

Way to go love!
