What a Sweet Day!

So I love Valentine's Day! I love spoiling my hubby and bringing flowers to my mom and making yummy heart-shaped sugar cookies, what could be better then that?! I think it's fun we can set a side one day a year to go all out and it's a fun excuse to be a little silly too!

I decided to give Matt a "heart-attack". He had to work 9-4pm so while he was busy at work I cut out about 50 hearts and stuck them all over our room and I think he was pretty surprised! Before he left to work we exchanged little Valentine's Day presents. I got Matt a couple of "news-boy" hats (his and my favorite), some black suspenders, and a new belt. Matt got me a bunch of art supplies and he wrote me a very heart-felt letter (which he has never done, btw) and it was very touching! What an amazing man!!

Once Matt got home he made us dinner and he went all out! Matt is an amazing cook and he definitely pulled out all the stops!

What a sexy chef!

What a little goober!

We had tortellini with a sun-dried tomato alfredo sauce with sauteed mushrooms and thinly sliced beef, fresh cooked asparagus (which was AMAZING!!), and a home-made garlic cheese roll...Matt completely out did himself!

Me and my Valentine!

XOXO

I made some yummy sugar cookies the night before and I think I ate about 10!! I made some for my mom, some for a co-worker, some for my primary class, and of course some for Matt and myself. They were so good and plus you have to eat a lot of sugar on Valentine's Day...I think it's a rule or something.

After the insanely good dinner Matt surprised me with this completely amazing and delicious cheesecake...I think we had this whole thing down in a minute flat!

Gotta love the Government...(well sorta)

So I am so stinkin excited! We just found out that thanks in large part to the $moo-lah$ we're getting back from our taxes this year Matt and I will be able indulge ourselves a little for our anniverary!! Every year we've been able to spend out anniversary somewhere fun (At the Little American in SLC, the Anniversary Inn at fifth south, Brighton Resort) and this year we were pretty bummed out because we weren't able to go. Well we just filed out taxes and as fate would have it we'll get enough money back to go somewhere fun this year and even put a little away. As you can probably guess as soon as I found out we could indulge a little I booked us a night's stay at the Anniversary Inn in Logan and I can't wait! It's gonna be a blast!! (Quite literally since our themed room is "Lost in Space"). Less then two weeks now, I can't wait!

I just can't help it!

So whether I like it or not (which by the way I DO!) I am helplessly addicted to LOST! I don't know what it is about this show but I love it and after an incredibly long and painful hiatus it's finally back!

I watched the first episode of the final season last week and it was so good! Ok I admit I really have no idea what's going on (even though I've seen every episode) but I think that is besides the point. There are far too many questions to get answered but that's ok. It's the thrill of the journey to me, not the destination.

Anyways I am super excited because it's on tonight and I can't wait! Bring on the munchies, my pjs, my comfy bed, and a brand-spaken new episode of LOST and I am set! Life just can't get any better!

Reason to Smile!

Amidst all the crazy things we have going on in our life (work, school, callings, bills, etc…) it’s always nice to have something to look forward too. For me it’s two upcoming vacations that put a smile on my face!

First Matt and I have the opportunity to head out to Moab for our annual Moab Madness Trip (March 5th-7th) and I can’t wait!! It’s been two years since Matt has been able to come with me because of conflicting work schedules and I am ecstatic! Going to Moab with my family for our Olson Family Reunion is definitely one of the highlights of my year. We go hiking, swimming, eat a ton of food, and just relax. My aunt and uncle own the Comfort Suites down there so we definitely get spoiled. It should be a very fun (and much needed) weekend!

About a month after that Matt and I are heading back down to California for 5 days of pure amazingness! I’m not entirely sure what Mom and Dad have planned up their sleeves for us but I know we’re gonna have a blast! (Plus I’ve heard rumors of a possible trip to Disneyland…now that’s a vacation!) Plus we’re going to be out there for Easter which will be a new experience for Matt and I...I can’t wait! Just seeing the DeGriselles family again (and my stinkin cute niece and nephew) will be amazing!
